Bucks Season Starts Tonight at Bradley Center

It's been a while since I have posted about our Milwaukee Bucks. The lockout took a lot out me. A quarter of the NBA season is lost, and still our Bucks start tonight at the Bradley Center. There were a few games played over the holiday weekend, one that included a last second shot that put the Bulls ahead for their first win. Tonight, we will see how rusty or ready Bogut, Jennings, and their supporting cast are. Every team is in the same position, hoping to come back to form in short order.

Bucks Host Timberwolves Tonight
The Timberwolves come for one game, then head for home. Washington will play on Friday here in Milwaukee. Bucks tickets for that game are still pretty reasonable. It's going to be a while before fans come back. You might as well take advantage of that.

Bogut Plays Well Against Charlotte
Andrew Bogut made up for his terrible performance last week, putting up 17 points and pulling down nine rebounds in their loss to Charlotte. Milwaukee was on top for most of the game, but came apart late, losing by one, 96-95. He played for just under 38 minutes, and almost put the game away for Milwaukee, with a score late. Charlotte took advantage of a late foul and sank both shots. We're hoping that Bogut will continue this effort as the games all count now.

Amidst the NBA lockout, Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut is coaching the Australian national team as they seek a bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Normally, Bogut plays for the Australian national team, but because of his injury and insurance issues, he will coach instead. Coaching seems like idea for Andrew Bogut, whose last two seasons ended early due to injury. Even when he wasn't injured this season, Bogut was plagued by migraines. Perhaps coaching is where Bogut's future lies. Just a thought.

We might have seen the last of Ersan Ilyasova on the Milwaukee Bucks. The Milwaukee Bucks forward has agreed to play basketball in Turkey for the next three years. This news comes amidst the NBA lockout and some other players are seeking other opportunities to play overseas. While the Milwaukee Bucks might be able to recover without Ersan, it would be tough to lose him without being able to work out a trade deal. It'll be interesting to see how the NBA lockout plays out. The Milwaukee Bucks suffered from a disappointing season after finishing the previous season with high hopes.

The Milwaukee Bucks draft prospect Alec Burks dislocated his shoulder during while working out with Milwaukee Bucks. This probably won't hurt his draft chances that much because he will most be picked early on in the first round of the NBA draft. His injury stopped him from going to work out with the Charlotte Bobcats, who have the 9th draft pick. The Milwaukee Bucks have the 10th pick so there is still a good chance that they could get Alec Burks. However, if the Bobcats have their heart set on Burks, a little shoulder injury won't have much impact on their pick. Burks is a sophomore shooting guard from Colorado. He didn't announce his plans to enter the NBA until the last moment. He would be a great fit for the Milwaukee Bucks because they are in need of another shooter.

The basketball world is abuzz with Brandon Jennings trade rumors. A month away from the NBA Draft, the word on the street is that the Milwaukee Bucks say they are open to trading point guard Brandon Jennings. Trade Brandon Jennings?! This isn't the best idea for the Milwaukee Bucks because it's unlikely the Bucks could acquire a player better than Jennings. Jennings still hasn't reached his full potential as a professional basketball player and still has room to grow. The Bucks should look to improve their shooters and develop Jennings in to a player that can make the shots he needs to make. At the end of the season, Jennings made some negative comments about the Bucks and Bucks leadership, but I don't think his words would result in him being traded. Brandon Jennings is traveling to India to promote the NBA this upcoming week. Jennings, who started his professional career playing in Italy, will travel in India for clinics and a skills challenge. Basketball is one of the fastest growing sports in India and the NBA (and WNBA) is looking to develop future talent. Jennings seemed like a likely candidate since he is a young player and has played professional basketball internationally. I like seeing Brandon Jennings taking a leadership role by representing NBA in a foreign country. It's things like this that make me believe that Jennings has what it takes to step it up as a leader for the Milwaukee Bucks next season.

The Milwaukee Bucks did not do a great job of playing as a cohesive unit this past season. It was evident in their losing record, which came as a major disappointment after last season's winning record and playoffs run. The Bucks lack a team leader and someone on the team needs to step up. That someone should be Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings. Jennings should step up as team leader of the Milwaukee Bucks. Just because Brandon Jennings has the ball a lot doesn't necessarily make him a leader, but I think he needs to be molded into the team's leader. As a young, talented player, he is the future of the Milwaukee Bucks franchise. Jennings has natural basketball skills, he needs to have the attitude of a team leader. It seems like players are waiting for one of their fellow teammates to step it up. Brandon Jennings should take some initiative and become the team's motivator.

Bradley Center Stops Development Project

The Bradley Center has stopped its development project. The plan was to develop the area around the Bradley Center by adding restaurants and stores and eventually office space, hotels, and condos. They cited the recession as the reason for halting the project. There has been less of a demand to add stores downtown. I think its a shame that this plan cannot be continued in some way. I've always been a huge proponent for building up the downtown Milwaukee area. The Bradley Center should be made into a destination. Just north of the Bradley Center sits a vacant lot that I wish would be developed into something useful. Downtown Milwaukee is such a great place, why not make it even more vibrant?

This Milwaukee Bucks 2010-2011 season was supposed to be the Year of the Deer! Instead, it turned out to be the Year of the Sheer Disappointment. After last year's exciting playoffs run, the Milwaukee Bucks had high expectations for this year. Instead, the Milwaukee Bucks finished with a losing season, suffered from countless injuries, and lacked the camaraderie amongst players needed for a successful team. Professional basketball in Milwaukee is a unique situation; Milwaukee is a small market city and basketball does not draw the revenue that it does in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, etc. However, it seems that professional basketball is here to stay in Milwaukee. Herb Kohl, the owner of the Milwaukee Bucks, does not want to sell the team to anyone that would take the team out of Milwaukee. That being said, I think the Milwaukee Bucks need to get it together. They have a strong and committed coaching staff. I think the players need to adjust their attitudes toward the game and towards playing in Milwaukee. For some players, Milwaukee is not the ideal location to play basketball, but they should feel lucky that they are able to play professional basketball at all. What the Milwaukee Bucks are lacking is an emotional force on their team. They need a player that plays with guts, that inspires, and that is a strong leader. Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut certainly has talent, but his constant injuries do not inspire success from his fellow teammates. I think if the Milwaukee Bucks had an inspiring teammate, we would see more wins from them. The Milwaukee Bucks had camaraderie last year and I think that led them to the playoffs. I hope the Milwaukee Bucks can figure it out in the off-season and come back next year to a winning season. Here's hoping that the Milwaukee Bucks 2011-2012 season will be the Year of the Deer.

It was a disappointing year for the Milwaukee Bucks and hopefully they will get it together in the off-season. In 1988, the Bradley Center was a state-of-the-art basketball arena, ahead of its time. Now, the ailing Bradley Center is in need of renovations. As always, renovations come at a price and stakeholders cannot agree on who will pay for Bradley Center renovations. One way to finance Bradley Center renovations would be to raise ticket prices for season ticket holders. However, since season ticket holders have already renewed their subscriptions for next season, it's too late to raise prices for next year. Another way to get money for Bradley Center improvements would be to changing the naming rights, however that will never happen as Jane Pettit, who built the arena in her father's name, will not agree. Taxpayer bonds had been brought up years ago, by then County Executive Scott Walker, but now Walker whistles a different tune. In light of the budget mess, Walker has said taxpayer bonds should not be the way to pay for Bradley Center renovations. What about Senator Herb Kohl? He owns the Milwaukee Bucks and has quite a nice fortune. Kohl helped Wisconsin finance their basketball and hockey arena (Kohl Center), so why not help out the Milwaukee Bucks? Kohl hasn't said anything about footing the bill for the Bradley Center improvements. Whatever is decided, the fact of the matter is the Bradley Center needs to be renovated sooner rather than later.

The Indiana Pacers won their game last night meaning the Milwaukee Bucks have to work that much harder to secure a spot. Can the Milwaukee Bucks pull off a playoff spot? Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut has suffered yet another injury this season which will bench him again for a little bit. This time, Bogut injured his ribcage. Earlier in the season, Bogut had a few migraines that kept him on the bench and some other ailments that I can't remember. Don't get me wrong, Bogut is a very talented player, it's just too bad that he is so injury prone. However, I still don't think Andrew Bogut is 100% after last season's horrific elbow injury. This 2010-2011 Milwaukee Bucks season has been disappointing to say the least. After last season's exciting play-offs run, this was not the kind of season I was expecting from the Milwaukee Bucks. It's tough to be a Milwaukee Bucks fan this season. Between the injuries and the losses, it's been difficult. I also think the Milwaukee Bucks need some leadership from its players. The Green Bay Packers always talked about how Charles Woodson was their spiritual leader in the locker room and Aaron Rodgers was a leader by his example on the field. A bright spot is the recovery of Carlos Delfino. He's almost ready to suit up, and may be on the bench for the game tonight. After his second head injury of the season, I really didn't follow his recovery progress. To read about what he has gone through is sad. Delfino couldn't read, or work on a computer. He spent days lying in the dark, not knowing the day or time. After a serious injury like that, it's best to take as much time as you need to recover.

The Bucks had the game in hand all the way to the middle of the third quarter. Then Dwayne Wade woke up, and slapped our team to the ground. Wade scored 17 of 34 in the fourth, and that's all it took to kill the upset. The Heat is now seven games into a win streak. Milwaukee on the other hand is now seven games under .500 on the road, and 9.5 games behind the Bulls.

Bucks Versus Magic Tonight

To make matters worse, the Bucks will be driving up the road to Orlando today and face another hot team in the Magic. Orlando is working on their own win streak, and would love nothing better than to keep it going.

He most likely won't be 100% at all this season which also means he will have to pay special attention to his pain levels. I don't believe, though, that Bogut's limitations will have a negative impact on the rest of the team. This Thursday, June 24th, the Milwaukee Bucks will partake in the 2010 NBA draft. In anticipation of the upcoming draft, the Milwaukee Bucks have been holding pre-draft workouts at their training facility for potential players. With a 15th pick, the Milwaukee Bucks are looking to score big in the NBA draft. However, it has been difficult to determine who might still be available by the 15th pick. The Milwaukee Bucks need a shooting guard and forward and hopefully these needs can be addressed with their first round pick.

There are several players in which the Milwaukee Bucks have expressed and they have been across the board in terms of when they are expected to be picked in the draft. As I sit and watch the Boston Celtics take on the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals, I cannot help but wonder what would have happened to the Milwaukee Bucks if Andrew Bogut had stayed healthy for the duration of the season. Would the Milwaukee Bucks have defeated the Atlanta Hawks and then the Boston Celtics? In mid-March, the Milwaukee Bucks played the Boston Celtics at the Bradley Center and ended up winning. This Boston Celtics team had all of the players healthy and playing well. I know it's not good to focus on the past, but I cannot help but think about how well the Milwaukee Bucks played this year and how close they came to NBA Championship glory. During the 2010-2011 Milwaukee Bucks season, when Andrew Bogut returns, I think our Milwaukee Bucks will have a season for the ages.

Apparently Franklin's calves started cramping up toward the end of the workout. College players are not used to the faster pace of the professional basketball game as well as the larger size of other players. When erected in 1988, the Bradley Center was a state-of-the-art facility. Now, it is one of the oldest arenas in the country. Now that the Milwaukee Bucks have had a winning season and have put themselves back on the map, should more improvements be made to the Bradley Center? A complete renovation? New scoreboard? New arena?! If major changes were made to the Bradley Center, should state money be used to fund these improvements? Wisconsin State Sen. Ted Kanavas doesn't seem to think so. With the NBA draft coming up on June 24th and a pre-camp starting in Chicago at the end of the this week, the Milwaukee Bucks have wasted no time in bringing in players to their training facilities in St. Francis for pre-draft workouts. After an impressive winning 2009-2010 season, Milwaukee Bucks fans are already looking forward to next season. Even though Andrew Bogut is already back in Australia and Carlos Delfino is gearing up to play for Argentina in the world championships, it is never too early to look to the Milwaukee Buck's 2010-2011 season. Building off of the success of this past season, I'm calling next Milwaukee Bucks season the Year of the Deer. I already have a good feeling about this one. Here are some things we, as Milwaukee Bucks fans, can look forward to during the 2010-2011 Milwaukee Bucks season:

1) Higher expectations. After completing the first winning season since the 2002-2003 season and making a great first round playoff run, Milwaukee Bucks fans are hungry for more! Nobody expected the Milwaukee Bucks to do anything this past season, but now that they've proved everyone wrong, fans will expect more.

2) The return of Andrew Bogut. We all know how important Andrew Bogut is to the Milwaukee Bucks and we all saw how well they played in his absence. Now we'll see what a healthy Andrew Bogut can do for the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2010-2011 season.

3) Brandon Jennings. Milwaukee loves Brandon Jennings and Brandon Jennings loves Milwaukee. In a recent interview on ESPN, Jennings talked about how he hopes Scott Skiles will be his coach for his entire career. We hope so, too! Talk about a guy who works hard and plays hard. Jennings had an incredible rookie season and plays basketball at a high level.

4) A Tight-Knit Squad. The guys play well together and this year the Milwaukee Bucks formed excellent chemistry. Now that they've worked out some of their kinks, they can start next year where they left off at the end of this year.

Although our 2010 Milwaukee Bucks will not bring home an NBA Championship at the end of this season, they have brought back something better to the city of Milwaukee; a restored love of basketball. Never in my life have I seen as many energetic and spirited Milwaukee Bucks fans as I did at the Bradley Center for Game Six against the Atlanta Hawks. From the court to the ceiling, fans were decked out in red, chanting "Fear the deer" and "Go Bucks Go" at the top of their lungs, and rallying behind the Milwaukee Bucks as they fought to hold on to the first round of the playoffs. It was as if the whole crowd was Squad Six. I couldn't help but think back to the first game of the season, when most of the upper deck in the Bradley Center sat empty, and the only cheering came from Andrew Bogut's Squad six.

Maybe the Milwaukee Bucks didn't win the first round of the playoffs, but they surpassed the basketball world's expectations. Nobody thought the Milwaukee Bucks would last past Christmas, but they pulled off a winning season for the first time since 2002-2003. Nobody thought the Milwaukee Bucks could make it to the playoffs, but they finished the regular season with a 6th seed, earning a playoff berth for the first time sine 2006. Once the Bucks made it to the playoffs, nobody thought they could make it without their star center Andrew Bog ut, but once again, the Milwaukee Bucks held their own for seven games, pulling an upset on the road in Game Five.

The Milwaukee Bucks 2009-2010 season was a turning point for the franchise as the Milwaukee Bucks proved what can happen when you refuse to give up in the face of adversity. The Milwaukee Bucks truly lived up to their "work hard, play hard" motto, successfully rebuilding their fan base in the process. I can't wait to see what happens during the Milwaukee Bucks 2010-2011 season, and if our Bucks keep playing the way they did this season, I think we will be seeing them in the playoffs for many years to come.

Bucks VS Hawks Playoffs at Bradley Center

The Bucks VS Hawks playoffs at the Bradley Center played out to my liking. The good guys took both games away from the hapless Hawks. This is not unusual for Atlanta. They have won only one road playoff game in the past twelve tries.

The same could be said for regular season wins by the Hawks at the Bradley Center. They don't play well here in Milwaukee. As if on cue, the Bucks tied the series, and now get a home game six for sure. It looked as if the Hawks were hit by a car yesterday. Oh yea, they were! The team bus was T-boned by an errant driver, and this forced the Hawks players out onto the streets of Brew City.

What was the play of the day last night? There were six of them. Carlos Delfino hit three six-pointers, and some of those were quite timely shots. He ended the night with 22 points. Jennings bested that mark by one. Every time the Hawks tried to match Jennings up with Zaza Pachulia in the paint, Zaza was smoked. Pachulia had only two rebounds last night, because his man kept dropping the ball in the hoop. How do you rebound when you keep getting burned for a score?

Milwaukee heads to Atlanta for game five, and then it's back to the Bradley Center for game six. Will these past two games give the Bucks the spark to take one on the road? We hope so.

The 2010 Milwaukee Bucks playoffs run has not quite turned out the way I had hoped. After suffering two losses in Atlanta, the Bucks are behind in the series 2 to 0. In the first game, the Milwaukee Bucks lost 102-92 and in the second game, the Atlanta Hawks defeated the Bucks, 96-86. What's going on guys? The offense needs to clean up its game if the Milwaukee Bucks want to advance to the next rounds of the playoffs. I like to think they can still succeed in the absence of Center Andrew Bogut.

After falling in Saturday night's game against the Phoenix Suns following a dunk, Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut suffered a season ending injury after breaking his right hand, spraining his wrist, and dislocating his elbow. Bogut is scheduled to have surgery on his arm today. Meanwhile, the Bucks are continuing their quest to secure a playoff berth! If the Bucks beat the Chicago Bulls tomorrow night in Chicago, they will secure their spot in the playoffs.

I can't believe it. No more Andrew Bogut?!?! Say it ain't so! However, Andrew Bogut tweeted the other day, this is a team sport and the Milwaukee Bucks are playing at a high level. The Bucks face the Celtics in two of their last three regular season games. Will we see the Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs? I think so. The Bucks have a comfortable cushion over the Bulls, and are holding steady against Miami. Yes, they lost two games at home, but bounced back nicely against the Grizzlies. It helps to see that the struggling Clippers are in town tonight.

John Salmons is like the last spice in the salad dressing. It's tasting pretty good right now, and the Bucks know it. He's leading the Bucks in scoring and getting major time on the court. The pressure is off Jennings. I'll admit that I was a bit skeptical when the Bucks picked up Salmons. Looking at his points per game while a Bull, and his time on the court at the United Center, I have to say this isn't just a guy who has brought up his scoring average just because he is on the court for an extra four minutes per night.

This season could go down to the wire. Milwaukee has four more home games, and five on the road. Twice they face Boston, and they have one game against the high flying Hawks. Atlanta has locked in their playoff spot, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't love to spoil our playoff party by putting us out of the running. The last three games are Bucks vs Celtics at the Bradley Center, Milwaukee vs Atlanta, and then one more Celtics match up on the road. Lose those three, and a few other games this week, and you never know what may happen.

Bogut averaged 19.3 points per game and around 14 rebounds. Now that's what I'm talking about! It seems like Andrew Bogut has finally come into his own.

Things are looking pretty good for our Milwaukee Bucks right now. They've surpassed everyone's expectations and have already won two more games than they did at the end of last year. The Bucks players and coaches are keeping a pretty cool head about the whole thing, recognizing that they have to keep up a strong fight to make it to the playoffs, but you know what?! I'm going to relish in their triumphs for a quick minute!

I'm so excited for the Milwaukee Bucks that I'm practically foaming at the mouth. Now, not to jump the gun here, but the Bucks HAVE THE SECOND BEST OVERALL RECORD (behind the Dallas) in the league following the all-star break!!!! ESPN has ranked them 8th overall in their power rankings. THEY HAVE WON 12 of their last 13 games! If they playoffs started tomorrow, the Bucks would be seeded FIFTH! The Milwaukee Bucks knew the playoffs were in reach if they stepped it up after the all-star break and that is exactly what they did; they stepped it up. Even better, the Milwaukee Bucks are boasting a new rally cry: FEAR THE DEER!!!!!! Not only is this phrase plastered across a downtown Milwaukee billboard, it's also a hashtag on Twitter.

In the most recent match-up against the Boston Celtics, Andrew Bogut's performance proved that Bogut is worth all the hype. This is the Andrew Bogut we acquired in the 2005 Draft. Tuesday night against the Celtics at the Bradley Center, Bogut scored 28 points and made 17 rebounds (give or take a little; my mind was a bit clouded from Club Cambria's hospitality). Even my mom commented on the fact that Bogut is on fire, and she is not really a basketball fan. When my mom starts chiming in on basketball, the Bucks must be playing extremely well.

During the month of February, the Bucks won 10 games, more than any other team in the Eastern Conference. In addition, the team won six games in a row and also six consecutive games on the road. Currently, the Bucks are ranked sixth in the Eastern conference, with a tied record with the Chicago Bulls. However, the Bucks have the tiebreaker.

Last night, the Bucks defeated the Washington Wizards 100-87 at the Bradley Center. Since January, the Bucks are 10-2 at their home court. Up next, the Bucks will have a rematch against the Washington Wizards in Washington DC before returning home to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Last night at the Bradley Center during a lake effect snow storm, our Milwaukee Bucks defeated the New Orleans Hornets, 115-95. Andrew Bogut led the way with 26 points, 13 rebounds and his fourth consecutive double-double. Recently acquired John Salmons scored in the double digits, something he has been doing ever since trade from the Chicago Bulls.

The Bucks’ latest win places them at .500 after the all-star break, something they haven’t achieved since the 2005-2006 season. The same season the Bucks made it to the playoffs. Currently the Bucks are tied for 7th in the Eastern Conference. That’s what I’m talking about! The Bucks are at a turning point in the season and they appear to be heeding the call. It kind of reminds me of the Packers this season after they lost to Tampa Bay this season. They were 4-4 and knew they needed to get their act together and they ended up capturing a Wild Card seed. Milwaukee Buck John Salmons Hits Key Three-Pointer

In his first game, Milwaukee Buck John Salmons forgot the plays that he learned as soon as he got off the bench. He was tutored during the game, as his tea mates were happy to help him through his first night. He had 33 minutes of playing time, but sinking the three-pointer with 16 seconds to play was the highlight of the game.

That same night, Brandon Jennings was cold. He was 1 of 13 for the night. Andrew Bogot was struggling as well. What both those men did on the other side of the ball made up for their lack of offensive production. Bogot had a dozen rebounds, and five blocks, while Jennings had a last minute steal that put the game out of reach for Detroit.

The next night, Brandon Jennings got hot. Salmons scored 19, and so did Jennings. The Bobcats were down by as much as twenty, as our Milwaukee Bucks moved into the eight playoff position. Charlotte came close near the end, but didn't get over the hump. Final score Bucks 93 Bobcats 88.

Last night, Bogut grabbed the spotlight as he had his second double-double of the season. The Knicks couldn't get anything going in the second half. They scored only 26 points in the last thirty minutes. They remain the eighth seed in the upcoming playoffs. It will take a miracle to keep the team in playoff standings, but three wins in a row is a fine start.

For the month of February, then won at Miami and New York, then came home to the Bradley Center and defeated the Pacers. Yes, they lost to the lowly Pistons last night. I am going to the Bradley Center tonight to watch the Milwaukee Bucks take on the Philadelphia 76ers and I am pretty excited about it. For one, Allen Iverson will be playing and I'd like to see what all this hype about him is really all about. More importantly, the Bucks are fun to watch. Despite a few recent narrow loses (including last night's game against the Dallas Mavericks), the Bucks are hard working, they have an impressive rookie, and they are a diverse team. Our Milwaukee Bucks return home to the Bradley Center this evening to take on the Toronto Raptors. In their last meeting, the Bucks defeated the Raptors 117-95. In tonight’s game, Jerry Stackhouse will make his debut as a Buck, after Michael Redd’s season ending injury. Stackhouse played in Dallas last season and has been a free agent upon being traded to Memphis.

The Bucks return home after their whirlwind of away games on the West Coast. The Bucks went 1-5 on the road, losing to the LA Lakers, 77-95; the Phoenix Suns, 101-105; the Portland Trailblazers 108-120; the Utah Jazz 95-112; and the Houston Rockets 98-101. Thankfully, the Bucks were able to defeat the Golden State Warriors, 113-104.

In most of their recent loses, the Bucks have lost by close margins. Maybe Stackhouse can help them seal the deal and finish on top of these close games. You'll have to go and see for yourself! Michael Redd out for season once again

It was almost one year to the day that Micheal Redd tore his ACL, yet again. Redd injured the same knee on January 10, in Los Angeles. Once again, the younger players will have to step up and take his place. It's not like the team isn't used to this. He spent time off the court erlier in the year with some other injury.

The NBA handed down a fine to Brandon Jennings for his cheerful Bucks Twitter tweet after an ovetime win. He tweeted about being back to .500, and you can't do that in the NBA. His tweets have been very strange on some nights, so it was a surprise to me that he got busted for this one.

The Milwaukee Bucks lost to the Boston Celtics 98-89 on Tuesday night in Boston. It was a close match for the first three quarters, but ultimately the Bucks had difficulty sealing the deal in the fourth quarter. With only 3:51 left in the 4th quarter, the Celtics had only an 89-86 lead. However, the Celtics capitalized on Brandon Jennings’s double dribble and Andrew Bogut’s late turnovers to win 98-89.

Bogut lead the Bucks with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Brandon Jennings scored 17 points and made 3 rebounds. Luke Ridnour suffered an elbow injury in the third quarter after trying to retrieve a loose ball that took him out of the rest of the game.

After this loss, the Bucks are now 9-11. Next the Bucks have a slew of home games beginning Wednesday night against the Toronto Raptors. During the Milwaukee Buck’s Wednesday night game against the New Jersey Nets, Andrew Bogut strained his left leg, an injury that will keep him out of the game for two to four weeks. The Bucks won Wednseday night’s game 99-85.

In Bogut’s absence, it is expected that centers Dan Gadzuric and Kurt Thomas will see more playing time. Michael Redd is still sidelined with a patella injury, but he did participate in Thursday’s non-contact practice. We all love the wicked behind the back assists for a slam dunk. We enjoy seeing our Milwaukee Bucks make it to the top ten plays of the day on ESPN, but more important is the leadership that Jennings has put fourth.

Jennings has not been shy about forcing his way into the passing lanes. His ability to steal the ball has made up for his greenhorn moves on defense. Yes, he did spend one year in Italy, but that is not the NBA. Brandon Jennings is certainly a rookie.

It’s Only up from Here: Bucks Lose in Preseason Opener

The Bucks lost their preseason opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves, 117-103. I guess it could’ve been a lot worse. Coach Skiles didn’t really have anything positive to say about the game which was saturated with fouls and bad defense. Skiles praised Warrick for his performance in the game, but that was about it. The Bucks trailed at the half 56-44 and never really picked it up in the second half.

I’m not worried, though, it’s only the very first game of the season. The Bucks have the rest of the month to work out their issues and find their footing. Its good for them to get these kinds of games out of their system so that when the regular season rolls around they will be good to go. At least the rookie got a taste of his first real NBA game!

Tickets for preseason games at the Bradley are on sale now and with the new NBA rule that prohibits players from standing while on the bench, you might actually get to see the game from your seats! Bucks Prepare for Start of 2009-2010 Season

The Milwaukee Bucks training camp is underway at the Cousins' Center in St. Francis, as they prepare for the 2009-2010 season. With the return of Andrew Bogut and Michael Redd from injuries, combined with rookie Brandon Jennings, Luc Mbah a Moute, and NBA veteran Kurt Thomas, the Bucks have potential to be playoff contenders. Ok, that might be wishful thinking, but this season could prove to be a major turning point for our boys over at the Bradley Center.

Already three practices deep, Bogut and Redd are easing back into the rigorous training schedule. The two formerly injured players feel encouraged by their abilities to participate in the tougher workouts. Bogut missed 43 games last season thanks to his lower back injury and Redd just came off of major knee surgery. As for rookie point guard Brandon Jennings, he has had a tough first couple of practices. Apparently, things were a little more lax in Rome where he played last year.

While he may not be used to the tough practices, there is no denying that Brandon Jennings is a fast runner and key addition to the team. Jenning's speed paired with Luke Ridnour's ability to push the ball up and down the court will make for a fun and exciting year with the Milwaukee Bucks! So will the addition of soon-to-be 37 year old Kurt Thomas, who will be starting his 15th season in the NBA. Formerly of the San Antonio Spurs, Thomas adds depth to the team with his versatility and experience facing the tough guys of the NBA, like Shaq.

Speaking of Shaq, the Bucks will face him, Lebron, and the rest of the Cavaliers at the Bradley Center on Dec. 6th. That's just the tip of the iceberg. The Bucks have some exciting matchups this season that you won't want to miss. Bradley Center tickets are still available for specific games. They start the regular season by playing host to the Chicago Bulls, who lost in the first round of the playoffs last year in a historic matchup with the Boston Celtics. The Celtics, led by former Buck Ray Allen, will visit Milwaukee later on in the season in March and April. Thomas's former team, The San Antonio Spurs, will visit Milwaukee Dec. 26th. This summer, the Bucks will be in the same place they've been for the NBA Finals every year since Nixon was still kicking over dirty martinis in the Oval Office - on the couch. Even though they didn't even make the playoffs, this basketball fan takes a small amount of satisfaction in this years match-up; David "The Man Behind The Curtain" Stern will have to wait at least another year for his James vs Bryant bonanza.

I would put Lebron James on my squad over Kobe hands down. And I admit, it would have been exciting watching these two superstars go at it - I would have walked to the fridge during high priced commercials along with the rest of America - but there's just something Magic about a team in the Finals that isn't "suppose" to be there. That's what I root for.

Milwaukee Bucks fans hoping to see their lottery luck turn for the better, didn't get what they wanted. The Bucks are still in the number 10 spot for the upcoming draft. Blake Griffin will go to the Clippers as the number one pick, unless they trade up or down.

Who will Milwaukee pick in that number 10 spot? Jonny Flynn is one to watch. Syracuse fans know that Flynn is not one to give up during a game. This point guard might fit here in Milwaukee.

It's tough to be a Milwaukee Bucks fan. Once again we found our team in the basement of our division. Yes, injuries plagued the team this year. Yes, there were real playoff hopes for the team. Losing Michael Redd showed us that this team is not that deep. Lose one great player, and our playoff hopes are dashed. The Boston Celtics are one game away from going to the next round of the playoffs, and they have accomplished that feat with injured stars.

The Milwaukee Bucks final record stands at 34-48. They had the worst record in the division, their longest winning streak for the year was three games, and the Bucks record for road games was 12-29. Milwaukee could have made the playoffs with a losing record. Detroit was the eighth seed with a 39-43 win-loss ratio. That fact makes one wonder what could have been if the injury bug had not struck.

What are the bright spots to build upon for 2009? One can hope that Redd stays healthy. The same can be said for Bogut. The team played hard this season, and few expected the Bucks to stay in the playoff hunt for as long as they did. They won seven more games when compared to the previous year, and the team has meshed well with Scott Skiles coaching style.

I look forward to the NBA draft, and a healthy Bucks squad for the 2009-2010 season.

I guess that I should be happy that they kept themselves in the playoff hunt for so long. When Michael Redd went out with his season ending injury, I was certain that the rest of the team would fold. With nine games left, the Milwaukee Bucks would have to win a majority of the games, and hope that Chicago tanks.

Meanwhile, The Bucks Face the Lakers on Wednesday night. Perhaps this game would have meant something if our team was free from injury. We might be watching Kobe pick apart a team that has alrady packed it in.

It has not been a great week for the Milwaukee basketball. Exactly a week ago the Bucks lost by 30 to the Hawks. The following night they won in a nail biter at home against the lowly Kings, but that became a bittersweet victory when Michael Redd landed funny and blew out his left knee. I guess now your Bucks tickets are going to include a Michael Redd fashion show; he'll haul all his best suits out of the closet so he looks sharp on the end of the bench for the second half of the season. Since they haven't won since Redd went down, it could be a long couple of months.

But just when you think you have this team pegged for doormats, they surprise you like they did tonight. The Bucks went into Toronto and got the job done. Led by Charlie V, who dropped in 26 and grabbed 13 boards, the Bucks simply outplayed Jermaine O'Neal and the Raptors. This is a big road win for the Bucks. Another bright spot; Bogut returned coming off the bench. He played 16 minutes, went 6-9 for 13 points and knocked down 8 rebounds. If this team is going to fulfill their backdoor playoff destiny, they're going to need him to be healthy.

What is going on with the Minnesota Timberwolves? If you check this link, some insightful Minnesota blogger has pointed out that the T'Wolves have yet to loose a game this year. Normally, I would think this is good news, or at the very least news that isn't bad. The problem is last night's victory came against the Bucks.

The Timberwolves overcame a late third quarter 13 point problem to squeak out with a win. Andrew Bogut returned after missing four games with back spasms but it wasn't enough. The Wolves are hot; they shot over 59% from downtown, they've won 7 out of 10....

Maybe Kevin McHale should have taken the reigns two years ago.

Bucks Split Back-to-Back with Charlotte

It's a classic in the NBA; beat a team on your home court and loose to the same team on theirs roughly 23 hours later. That is exactly how the weekend played out for the Bucks and Bobcats. Normally, you would take that. Especially since it seems that lately these two teams play each other more than the Yankees and the Red Sox.

But I'm guessing the Bucks don't feel all warm and fuzzy. They were beat soundly by a good, but not great, Charlotte team.

The Bucks start a little run tonight against sub-500 teams. They know how that feels, being a sub-500 team themselves. This is a critical stretch; come out of this strong, come out on the other side of 500 and people may start to believe. People may start showing up in real numbers; Bucks tickets may start moving out of the window at the Bradley Center.

But if they don't take care of business, they stand a chance of limping to the end of the season in the company of the NBA underbelly yet again.

Thirteen Games In

It's a Friday afternoon, the third week in November. It's cold outside. Sabathia and Sheets are still in the free agent pool. Nobody is talking about Brewers tickets right now. But no one is really talking about Bucks tickets either. The Knicks (6-5) are leaving their hotel for the Bradley Center to take on the Bucks (5-8) in only the 6th home game this season.

I know Bucks fans, the record thirteen games in is not as strong as I would like, but there is reason for hope. By the time you start ripping little paper doors off you advent calendar, the hard-luck Bucks will have already played a dozen road games against seven at home. That includes game in Cleveland, Boston, Denver and Salt Lake City - all losses.

Despite being 5-8, the Bucks have played some inspired ball with a handful of pleasant early season surprises, including the stellar play of second rounder Luc Mbah a Moute. It also seems the Bucks are responding to Coach Skiles no nonsense approach to the game. I'll be watching from the stands tonight as they try to put a fork in the Knicks.

The Bucks lost the season opener in Chicago but won in Oklahoma City to start the season at .500. The home opener is on Saturday night at the Bradley Center against the Raptors. The Skiles era is most certainly upon us Bucks fans.

Remembering the Preseason

Here's one thing the Bucks have going for them; preseason games don't count. In eight tries, the Bucks were only able to come up with one win and they had to drag the Golden State Warriors all the way to China to get it.

The organization starts the 2008/09 season with a new general manager, their 4th in the last decade and a new coach, their 6th in the same time frame. That's a lot of turnover at the top, even for the NBA.

The new guys say they are going to stress team defense. The old guys said the same thing, and we all know how that turned out. As an optimist I'm willing to give them a shot, but during the (remember, it's meaningless) preseason the Bucks were outscored by 114 points. In eight contests, that's an average of 14.25 points a game.

It remains to be seen if Skiles and Hammond are the guys who can really turn this team around, or if this is just another case of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss".

Unhappy Kids Return to School as NBA Season Approaches

I'm Hugh Jass, Milwaukee Bucks fan, and I've recently returned from a 60 day State sanctioned getaway (their decision, not mine) just in time for the upcoming NBA season.

Ed. note: The Brewers finally ended their relationship with manager Nedly Yost today. Check out my buddy Jimmy's blog at Milwaukee's Own Brew Crew and let him know how upset you are because Yost is more loved than Santa Claus around here.

The regular season is about the six weeks away, the pre-season is three. So what's new with the Bucks? Michael Redd has a gold medal, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants are the new Bucks affiliate from the NBA Development League, and Damon Jones is back (although I wouldn't dig that old purple DJ jersey out of the closet if I was you).

So what is the 2008/09 version of the Milwaukee Bucks going to look like? That's a good question....

The Six(ty) Million Dollar Man

When Andrew Bogut's new contract extension is about to expire, Prince Fielder will be blowing out the candles on his 30th birthday cake. Actually, for that to technically happen, the Bucks are going to need to make the playoffs in 2014.

John Hammond signed Bogut to a five-year extension worth $60 million in guaranteed money plus another $12 million built into incentives. The deal doesn't reflect the $6.9 million he'll make in 2008-09, the last year of his rookie deal.

It's been widely believed here in Milwaukee that Bogut has sought a long term deal with the Bucks, despite a couple of extremely lean years. It appears the Bucks feel the same way; the two sides got this extension deal done on the first day after the NBA's "moratorium period."

Bogut certainly has not been without his critics during his tenure in the NBA, but I think this is a smart move by the Hammond Brain Trust. Looking toward the horizon, the thunder from down under is only going to get louder.

Pieces Of Eight

So there you have it Bucks fans. Once again, the Milwaukee Bucks take a back seat to the Bulls. With less than a 2% shot, the Bulls jumped eight spots to take control of the burdensome numero uno in this years lottery. In doing so, they knocked four through eight (Memphis, New York, the Clippers, our beloved Bucks, and Charlotte) down by one spot.

It's the third time since the NBA lottery started in '85 that the Bucks have walked away with the eight ball. Their picks at that spot have been Todd Day, Vin Baker (who could forget old Vin 'n' Juice) and T.J. Ford. Of those three only Todd Day could be truly labeled a bust. In his defence, those were some lean years in the middle nineties.

Hammond and his staff have a little over a month to contemplate the direction thay want to take with their top ten pick. This years draft appears to have some nice talent. Bucks fans can also expect a modest ammount of wheelin' and dealin' to take place. (One can only hope.)

So everybody relax, get a couple Brewers tickets and take in a ball game, sit back with a cold one and toast the beginning of the John Hammond/Scott Skiles era. The only way to go is up.

Only Losers Win The Lottery

It's that time of the year again Bucks fans. I'm Hugh Jass, recently back in Milwaukee after a nice vacation in the subcontinent, just in time for the annual gathering of the NBA's doormats in Secaucus, New Jersey. Of course, I'm talking about the NBA Lottery - that glorious day where ping-pong balls allow the masterminds that make up the front offices of the NBA's worst teams to decide the fate of the current crop of collegiate and international elite.

The Bucks are lined up at lucky number seven in this year's lottery and are guaranteed a top 10 pick, although they cannot get four, five or six. They have less than a 5% chance at the first or second pick and about a 6% chance of landing at number three. The smart money (a 60% chance) has them staying at seven but they also have a 24% chance of slipping to eight or nine.

Although the Bucks aren't a stranger to the lottery, it's a new deal for recently hired general manager John Hammond. That's generally how it goes when you're part of an organization that makes the playoffs every year - during Hammond's seven seasons with the Pistons they made the playoffs each year, never posting less than a 50 win season.

So Hammonds is on his way to Jersey to participate in his first lottery as a Bucks G.M. For the Bucks it will be their 12th appearance and their third in the last four years. (The Bucks last two lottery picks have been Yi Jianlian with the 6th overall pick in 2007 and Andrew Bogut with the 1st overall pick in 2005.)

I for one have confidence in Hammond. He seems like a sharp guy and he's spent many years in a winning organization. We're about to find out how lucky he is.

Scott Skiles

The Bucks have selected Scott Skiles as their 10th head coach. At the very least, the Bucks new coach has an interesting back story. Is an interesting back story enough to move Milwaukee Bucks tickets next season? That remains to be seen.

Skiles has held two head coaching jobs in the NBA; parts of three seasons with Phoenix and parts of five seasons with the Bulls. Both positions ended with Skiles being shown the door. He's got a head coaching record of .528 and his teams have made the playoffs five times.

Skiles has the reputation of being a no nonsense guy. Some would call him a hard-ass. Others may simply call him an ass. He's had a history of rifts with players over the years. Once he was asked by a reporter what Eddy Curry could do to improve his rebounding - Skiles responded by saying, "jump." He's was involved in a well publicized feud with former Bulls All-Star Ben Wallace over Wallace's wearing of a headband and pre-game music in the locker room. Some believe that eventually led to both men leaving Chicago.

Skiles certainly hasn't yet built the resume of a Don Nelson or a George Karl, but he still has over 100 more games as an NBA head coach then the Bucks' LAST THREE HEAD COACHES COMBINED. At least the new guy isn't still wet behind the ears.

It's believed that Herb Kohl was approached recently by Larry Harris asking the senator for a determination on his future with the Bucks. Kohl promptly fired him.

Maybe it wasn't quite that abrupt, but nobody would blame Kohl if it had been. Harris was in the final year of a contract that expires on June 30 of this year. His tenure as the Bucks general manager lasted a little under five years.

At best, Harris was the victim of a handful of big contract signings that frankly didn't work out. That kind of thing can happen to any team. It happened to George Karl (remember Anthony Mason?) At worst, he was simply in over his head, destined to take an annual early summer vacation to the NBA lottery.

Seeing Larry Harris go is somewhat bittersweet. He was with the organization for a long time. His ol' man with the organization for a long time. But the fact remains, the team needs to do a little house cleaning. So Long, Larry. You won't be the last to go.

Bucks to Honor Brian Winters Tomorrow Night

On Tuesday evening, before the Bucks face the Miami Heat in what will likely be the NBA's version of scooping slop out of the chum bucket, the organization will honor Brian Winters.

Originally hailing from Long Island, Winters came to the Bucks as part of the trade that sent Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to the Lakers in 1975. Los Angeles grabbed Winters with the 12th pick in the 1974 NBA draft. He had a productive nine year career that included two All Star appearances and played on six different playoff teams. Winters averaged 16.2 points and 4.1 assists over his career. His best years were as a Buck in the mid to late 70's where he averaged over 19 points and a little under five assists per game. His number 32 hangs in the rafters at the Bradley Center.

Since retiring from the NBA, Winters has held down a number coaching gigs, including assistant jobs under Pete Carril at Princeton and Lenny Wilkins at Cleveland and Atlanta. He was the inaugural coach for the Vancouver Grizzlies for a year and a half and more recently, he was the head coach for the WNBA's Indiana Fever. How many former Bucks can say they've steered a WNBA team to the playoffs?

So there you have it Bucks fans. There's a reason to leave the house on a Tuesday night. Go downtown, stop at Goolsby's for a few pops and some hot wings, get yourself a couple cheap Bucks tickets, watch Johnny Mac carry Brian Winters around on his shoulders at half time, then quickly head into the Courtside Club so you don't have to watch two of the NBA's loneliest teams blame their uninspired play on crooked referees while they slowly limp in overpaid fashion to the end of another pointless season.

Bucks Outplayed on Sunday

If you were at the Bucks game on Sunday afternoon, you were witness to one of the worst losses of the season. The Bucks were completely shown up by a younger and less talented 76ers team from start to finish. For this effort they were treated to one of the more boisterous chorus' of boos I've heard at the Bradley Center in a long time.

This marks the second straight home loss in what was suppose to be a favorable spot in the schedule. Based on how these guys are playing right now, I don't think there is anyone in town, both within the Bucks organization or on the street that even wants these guys in the playoffs. What we all need is to mercifully get to the end of the season and start writing out pink slips.

Someone Woke The Bucks Up!

Don't look now, but after playing high school ball for most of the season, the Bucks have become an offensive force. They've put up 100 or more points in each of their last five games. Could it be that they've finally figured it out or is this simply a case of playing loose from the 11th spot in the East?

Before we get too excited by this latest run, keep in mind they lost on the road last night in New Jersey to bring (actually, to keep) their total number of road wins at six. There's a good chance the snow will be gone before they hit double digit victories on the road.

But I'll take it. I don't want to hear any playoff talk, but it's nice to see the team playing like they have a pulse.

Walking into the Bradley Center on Saturday night I got that feeling the bottom was near; that feeling you get when you hit the low point and the only way to go is up.

It went away after the Bucks posted a heartbreaking loss to the lowly New York Knicks. An argument can be made that Saturday night marked the worst home loss of the season for the Bucks. After leading in the 3rd by 17 points, this one wound up in the loss column.

Bucks Win on the Road! Seriously!

Things are bad Bucks fans. It isn't shaping up to be the year I had hoped. But one needs to look a little harder for the silver lining. Your team really needs you these days. Sure it's tough, but remember what Wilt Chamberlain once said, "Nobody ever roots for Goliath." Folks, this isn’t Goliath.

Last night the Bucks put their 6th road victory in the win column. I guess the good news or, the silver lining, is that they got to that elusive number six before Valentines Day. But the reality of the situation is that the 2007/08 version of the Bucks are horrible on the road.

Here's another bright spot; Mo Williams played like a man possessed at the end on the game. He scored the last 10 points to secure a come-from-behind victory in Memphis. Sure, it's true Memphis isn't that strong of a team, but a win's a win. Hey, I'll take it.

Meeting of Two Dragons

Millions of Chinese basketball fans will be glued to their tv's and crowded around the breakfast table when the Bucks take on the Rockets at the Bradley Center in a few days.

When the Rockets come to town, they say that more people will be watching the game than the Super Bowl. Now I've never been to the Super Bowl, but I've been to plenty of Bucks game. I would think a Bucks ticket for this game is going to run a little less than a Super Bowl ticket.

Overtime Win gets Bucks One Game Closer to End of Season

I saw Donald Driver of the Green Bay Packers at the Bucks/Suns game on Tuesday. Kinda of ironic, don't you think: The Pack aren't going to Phoenix so Driver goes to the Suns game. No matter how you slice it, the Pack had a great year and they have nothing to be down about.

Anyway, back to the point. The Bucks really showed some moxy with an overtime win against the Wizards on Sunday night. They even pulled it off without Michael Redd. I was at the game with my buddy Napoleon and I must admit, we had a helluva time watching the Bucks put this one in the "W" column. But, it doesn't erase the fact that there are clouds forming over the Bradley Center.
